Macro DOF question

When using my macro canon 100mm at its closest point and at its smallest apeture, what depth of field should I expect to get ?

About 4 mm at a guess. but you'd probably get a sharper shot @ f/11 then the dof would probably be around 2mm.

Minimum focusing distance of the 100mm macro lens is 0.31m/1ft (see handbook).

@ f/2.8 - DOF = Near Limit 0.31m/1.0ft, Far Limit the same
@ f/11 - as for above
@ f/22 - DOF = Near Limit 0.99ft/301.752mm, Far Limit 1.01ft/307.848, Total 0.02ft/6.096mm. In front of, and behind subject 0.01ft/3.048mm

Info obtained from http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

Cutter in a word it's not a lot .One thing you will find though is the lens is sharp irrespective of the aperture used .I am seriously thinking of getting an adjustable focussing rail for my tripod as I tend to move the camera itself by fractions to get decent macro.

Go and cry at you FAILURES !
