Thanks Fizzio for taking the time and effort to do a review, as always much appreciated.

I might have know that I should have upped the contrast

It's snowing right now, so maybe I will follow Forseti's suggestion for a frame filler

Congratulations to Oggalily (and full marks to your son) wonderful fun imagery. Although my vote went to Carol, as I particularly liked the captured transition / changes shown within the snow bound photograph.

Above, Fizzio's Aqua Sublime; excellent work all round. I particularly liked the expression full use of opposing colours providing a defined 'thoughtful focus' upon the captured action in transitions / changes going on within the image.

Below, Michael's Banana Changing; again nice work and good pp transition.

Thanks for your critiques too. My guess is, that if I had cropped in a bit tighter to the flower and left it untitled, so the transition/change where the sunlight passing through the petal fingers highlighting the translucent reds spoke far more, I may have picked up a vote.

Gareth may be right, there is probably some sense in separating / defining Photography & Digital Imagery from photographs.

I can understand why as photoshop is a very powerful tool and requires a lot of time and effort to learn and not everyone has the inclination or need to use it but if we are going to limit photoshop useage on these competitions i think we should maybe have 2 competitions 1 with very basic photoshop skills and 1 with as much photoshop as you want - like another competition website (dpchallenge)

jkust a thought
Reggy, my thinking was that limiting post-processing for this week only would encourage people, includng myself, to think about getting the picture right in the camera. It's just another restriction to help us all work on areas of photography where we may or may not be comfortable and need to try new things. It's only for this week and I don't think it should be a permanent feature of the comp. The normal rules will come back next week (unless of course the next winner has different ideas).

As for separate challenges, we used to have an editing comp on the old DCMag site which was quite fun but never attracted the same level of interest. That said, there is no reason you couldn't start an editing challenge yourself!

I've got a bone to pick with you Kristin.

Your review of my picture was far too generous. It's fatuous make up the numbers stuff.

I promise to try to do better this weekend.

Wot, no sharpening? Not fair on the impecunious minority, of which I count myself one.

Hmm, hadn't thought about sharpening. I've no issue with it as long as it is used across the whole image and isn't used "prominently". I'll update the brief.

ellell82, if you are asking whether your picture would fit this week's brief, the answer is "I don't think so". The main subject, the dog, needs to be much bigger within the shot. You could even close in on the dog's face or some other features. Look on the CHAT thread for next week's comp where I have shown some examples.
