Unhappy Image Resolution

Hi Folks

Just discovered this site today when trying to figure out a problem.
I have my Cannon EOS 450D set to take pictures of the highest quality (fine JPEG). Why is it but, when I transfer the images via the camera memory card to my laptop they all come up as only 72 ppi. Should it not be 300 or 350 ppi? Can anybody help me.

Thanks, Vi.

Why do you want it to be 300ppi instead of 72? Until you come to do something specific with it it's irrelevant. The pixel dimensions of the edges are the same anyway, 4272 x 2848 (unless you resize the image).

I think you're confusing ppi and dpi

Most cameras shoot at 72 ppi (pixels per inch). Standard photo quality prints are 300 dpi (dots per inch)
