Cool upgrade from tamron 18-200

first post on here!
I have got a Canon 20D and a tamron 18-200 lens (which produces images softer than the andrex puppy), I am thinking of upgrading to either the Canon 24-105, 17-55 or the Sigma 24-70 2.8. I would use it as a general walk about lens with some portraits, some landscapes and some pets. I am leaning toward the 24-105 because of the IS and better zoom range.Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers
Rob

On the 20D, the 24-105 will in effect (Well its not, but lets not go there!) be a 38-168 - which isn't that wide - but may suit your photography - only you can determine that one!

The 17-55 is effectively 27-88 - which is a bit wider, but not super wide!

The other lens I would add to the list is the 17-40 f/4 L - which along with the 24-105 is suitable for full frame or 1.3 crop (1D Mk???).

The sigma 24-70 has reasonable reviews on the Fred Miranda site. (8.3/10)
The canon's all score 9/10 or better.

You pays your money and takes your chance!

Thanks for that - an upgrade to a 5D is not out of the question in the future so either the 24-105 or the 17-40 (must admit i hadn't thought of that one!) will be an investment. sorry for the delay - been in Mauritius!:
