Multi Printer

This months mag done printer reviews and the Canon PM640 came out as best.
My question is will it print black and white images ok

No, not unless you change the ink tanks to do it. Ink jet printers find B & W very difficult and invariably add a colour cast. have a look at this site to see how to get around the problem.

A while back I would have agreed with Flake on this ....but I have the canon Ip 4600 .
after a lot of setting up in photoshop re Paper and printer profiles I am avoiding the colour casts .Left to the printers own default settings there was indeed a rather blue grey cast.

It will never be a bespoke printer for commercial purposes but for me to print my own stuff to frame at A4 it's not bad at all.Colour is better though.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your comments just been looking at the MP990 which has 6inks one which is grey for black and white printing, price is roughly £100 more and the other thing is you can scan negs.

though i odnt have a printer dedicated to B+W out of my 2 printers the epson r200 and the CX3200.I do find the cx3200 does a better job at BW pics.I did find the r200 gave a blue/green cast
