CHAT Thread - W/e comp 5-7 Feb 2010 - "Collection"

After exhaustive discussions, Ogga and myself have decided on a topic for this weekend's comp:-

"COLLECTION" - a gathering together or accumulation of things.

Everybody has or knows someone with one of these, whether they meant to "collect" it or not. So if you collect priceless paintings or just your toe clippings, here's your chance to show them off to a mostly appreciative crowd.

As ever, well at least since last week, here are the rules :-

1. To be valid images must be taken on the Fri, Sat, Sun of the competition, that is during Friday, Saturday and Sunday in your time zone. ALL of the elements of any composite images or montages must be taken during the weekend competition window.

2. Anyone can take part in the competition and anyone can and should vote, not just the competition entrants

3. There are no limits on Post processing. There is no restriction on equipment that can be used.

4. Images submitted after 12:00 UK time on the Monday may not be included as the poll thread must be set up. The poll runs for 2 days from the posting of the poll so that it generally ends mid day Wednesday.

5. The winner must set the new topic before Friday to give entrants time to think of ideas and get ready for the shoot, the competition starts on Friday, no images taken before that time are valid and will not be included in the poll.

6. The winner is then responsible for starting the Chat thread, Entry thread, and setting and managing the poll

7. Voters may not vote on their own image, the poll is set as open so you can see who appreciated your work.

Hope this is a suitable topic to try and keep the numbers going from last week - but I am afraid that Carol's will be a hard act to follow.

Best of luck to all, pp Ogga / Sie

So it cannot be a collection of any sort of things - like groups of buildings / trees etc. It has to be some sort of collectable items? I don`t do collections of anything so might struggle.

As Sie has said it doesn't need to have been "collected". It can be a group of something (coins, golf balls, firewood, books, hats, clouds) that you haven't collected as a hobby but happen to find together.

Thanks ogga for the clarification - that makes it easier to think. Although I have now discovered others in this house do indeed have collections of sorts - even me!

I'm not sure my collection of empty wine bottles waiting to be recycled is very interesting; or my daughter's multi coloured collection of broken pencil tips for that matter.

I've got a collection of C5 Corvette models, but that's a bit boring - and besides the life sized one is variously covered in mud and the cat's paw prints. I can't wash it now because it's tipping down.

I just realised that I have got 4 35mm slrs, but how boring is that?

Something like this you mean - Luft (in bed) Hansa (wearing glasses) and their friends.

No free time this Saturday and Sunday so thought I'd get in early and start the ball rolling.
