CANON 5D Mark II problems, please help

I'm looking for this camera and I'm interested if anyone ever had any problem with it? It is worth that amount? or it is better to get the old 5D, because I get lost after reading this forum http://raoulpop.com/2009/02/27/canon...amera-or-lens/

It's an absolutely meaningless post! Firstly he doesn't say which lens/es he was using, nor does he mention the apertures, nor the shutter speeds or Iso settings. To make matters worse there's no mention of sharpness at the centre or the borders where it differs sometimes very noticeably.

The AF system isn't the best in the world, but then you're getting a FF camera with a sensor more advance than the 1Ds MkIII which costs 3x as much. There has to be some compromises and the focus system is it.

It's regarded as one the best cameras in the world if that tells you anything. I'm afraid Mr Raoul Pop isn't someone with a high profile in the photographic industry, you might be better listening / reading those who are.

There is another issue, which is that viewing 21MP at 100% and then comparing it to the 5D at 12 MP at 100% it will appear softer, this is just a property of high MP images.

It also needs to be said that this sensor will mercilessly expose defects or poor performance in lenses, which is why it's important to what lenses are used and the apertures as that changes the performance. To find one contributor complaining about heavy vignetting summed it up for me. FF cameras always show this as they use the full image circle, there is an option for the camera to compensate for it (obviously they hadn't switched it on!) and it's removeable with DPP or Photoshop.
