First of all thanks to all who voted for my bathmat and thanks to the ones who didn't but have mentioned it in dispatches since. Thanks for the crits as well.

Secondly well done to you as well Ogga, I voted for your marvellous coloured oil drops (even though I preferred your blue version that you posted in the chat thread). What can I say - a real striking image as soon as you see it (I think Mark may have hit the nail on the head when he said "SHINY", I'm sure we must be decended from Magpies, cos everyone loves a nice bit of shiny, don't they?)

Thirdly, well done Carol for setting such a good topic, it really got everyone going didn't it? And such a wide range of good images (reflected in the spread voting). Ogga's got a lot to live up to with the choice of topic this week!

Top & bottoms:
bsmith : Round bits in my car - A very good idea and nearly works. With Ogga, I'm not sure about the top right reflection thingy, or the camera lens on the left. Maybe with the speedo needle on 180 and a couple of LEDs shining from the dash. Maybe a couple of false shadows would have also added a little more depth to the image. Good effort though.
robincastle : Round berries - you didn't post a very big image to look at, so it's difficult to say for certain, but the focus on the berries looks a little soft. The composition needs to concentrate on the berries (imo) and maybe if you'd got in closer to them and made them much bigger. There looks to be some potential in the red spotted berries for a good macro of a large round berry. Sorry, it didn't work for me this one.

Well done to all and I just hope Ogga and I can come up with something to keep you interested for this weekend.

Cheers, Sie

Well done to our two winners this week. I voted for ogga, but it could just have easily been one of many. Thanks Del for the vote .

Above: Michaelb104 – Gel Balls. Sharp, colourful and certainly full of roundness. The colour falls off rather to the bottom left, but that is nit-picking. Excellent work.

Below: Guy1970 – Corked. Looks like a cracker of a weekend to me. Good and sharp, but loses out in the shinynesstm stakes by being overall rather brown. Still if you've drunk that much you wouldn't really care, would you?

I think only admins/mods can change titles at the moment - but it's very easy for me to do, so in future if you want to post your poll etc with "work in progress" or similar in the title field, either drop me an email when it's done or indicate somewhere in the thread and I will happily change it for you.

I'm normally hovering around the comp threads anyway so usually notice these things.

Hope that helps :-)

Amy

Very well done to the winners, both excellent shots & good and Shiny™

Above: Cutter - This must have taken some time & patience. The end result is really good and the bubble/reflection is top notch. I know you were putting the bubble in a place but I think the background is a little distracting and would have benefited from a shallower dof (or blurring pp). Also, perhaps the image could use a little punch (I would say 'contrast boost' but I understand that term is ©Kristin Moat ) to really bring out the roundness of the bubble and colours.

Below: Wattsy - I think this is a superb shot in its own right and is clearly technically excellent. Just didn't shout ROUND to me for some reason. Top work though.

So, collections now is it. For my sins, I'll be sucking in great lungfulls of water-laden Welsh air this weekend so I may be a little short of subject matter.

Thanks for your comments Mark, this was my original but my son said it looked to false, what do you think?.

Well done Sie and Ogga!
Above: Reggy's Luna - great moon shot. I don't have a long enough lens for these so am always immensly envious of these moon shots. Ordinarily, I think this would have polled more votes, but the internet-wide surfeit of Moon and Mars shots last weekend perhaps meant that voters were moon-weary by the time the polls opened.
Below: Forseti's Miss Piggy. I adore Miss Piggy and I know it is an iPod docking station, but I thought the iPod clashed with the overall impact of the pig, which on its own would have had so much more oompf, IMHO.

There were so many great shots to choose from this week, that voting was jolly hard. Anyway, it was HinFrance's 'how to' description that swung it for me.

Sorry for my tardiness this week, but better late than never! And thanks for the vote Terrik.

Sorry for the delay Mark, been away for a while. I think this alternative version is much stronger and has more impact. It may not give the same impression of place but I think it makes for a better 'Round' photo.
