International delivery

To all international readers - what is your experience with the delivery of DCMag? From my perspective it is going from bad to worse. I am a subscriber for the second year now. At the begining almost every copy was delivered two or three days after release date. Last fall this extended to five to ten days. Now they completely missed December and February issue. I requested issue 93 and got it in mid January. February issue is out of stock so I can not request a replacement and will probably skip this one...

I know the problem is not local postal delivery - I have no problem with other international deliveries (magazines, packages). What is your experience?

I only live a few hundred miles south of the UK. I didn't renew this year because of the useless service.

As you say, some mags never turn up at all. But the straw that broke the camel's back for me was the tendency of issues to arrive like a badly run bus service - nothing at all for two or three months, then they would all turn up at once; all late, obviously. Absolutely hopeless.

I have other international subscriptions and they are reliable and punctual.

I do wonder if it is something to do with the UK Post Office. Over Christmas I had packages arrive from the US and China in a third of the time they took from the UK.

Hello

I'm Laura - I'm the Subscriptions Manager for the photography titles here at Future Publishing.

I'm very sorry to hear of the frustrations you're experiencing with late / missing deliveries. With the current system, we can only track the deliveries as far as the international depots, and from there it is out of our hands.

We ensure that everything leaves the UK and arrives in designated countries on time every month, after that we are unable to monitor the situation. This is however changing and a noticeable difference should be seen from Spring / Summer 2010.

In the mean time, please do email me to report delayed / missing issues and I will arrange for another to be sent straight away.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Laura

I'm pretty much used to getting my issue 2-3 weeks after the release date, still better than paying 10-12 Euros per issue in the shops over here. The one or two times that it did not arrive after a month I got it re-send and it arrived shortly after the request (the originally sent issue arrived two weeks after that..., one never arrived). I've had less luck with SFX. They tried to track what's going wrong there by sending two issues (one through the usual channels and one directly) and they arrive quite regularly now. Usually 2-3 weeks after the release date (same service used as Digital Camera). So no idea, I guess it's the postal system being used. As long as it arrived within those 3 weeks after release, I can live with it.
