Hi everyone , can you give me a clue as to what camera bag to buy ? I have seen lowpro but not sure about size and ease of use . I have a canon 50d with a 100-400 lense and want to be able to get it in and out with no fuss. aso I want to put 2 smaller lenses in.

Thanks

What type do you want? Shoulder, backpack, sling, waist bag, etc? What sort of environments will you need to use it in, and what other accessories will you need to carry?

I have a Crumpler rucksack for sale if you want a backpack style If you want one for the camera & the 100 - 400mm the Tamrac 75AW is very good, but you would have to buy a seperate lens case to carry them in & strap them to the side of the bag.

Oh you'll definitely be able to carry all your equipment in it Cutter it's a large rucksack wich also holds a laptop if you wish.

There's a review here

And best of all I only want £50 + P & P for it (I think it was well over £150 new) If you're interested I'll send some actual photos.

I use a Tamrac Expedition 7 - if I travel 'light' then 7D with grip, Sigma 150-500mm OS, Sigma 105mm, Sigma 10-20mm + Benbo Mini Trekker

Going 'heavy', add external lens carriers (plus all essential insulated drinks carrier) and swap tripod to Benbo Trekker, adding Sigma SD14, swap Sigma 105mms, Sigma 17-35mm and still have room for essentials like a spare jacket or fleece, gloves, hat, etc

Thanks for your coments and thanks for your offer Flake, its a great buy but I think I will go for a lowpro 300 slingshot. I like the idea that I dont have to put it down to get the camera out, something i struggled with in the rain on Sunday.
If anyone out there has uses one What do you think of it ?

Hopefully you're going to try this bag out for size in the shop first!!! I had the Slingshot 200 for a while, loved it, and then thought I needed more room and upgraded to the 300...............oops - big mistake.

Unlike the 200, the 300 doesn't come with a chest strap (unless Lowepro have recently revised the model) which means that in the normal rucksack carrying position it tends to hang awkwardly due to the weight of contents. The chest strap of the 200 counteracts this trend quite a bit. I also found it to be one of those.....how shall we say.....in between bags - neither small nor big. Too small for getting my entire kit into, yet too big when out and about hiking. Oh the 300 will pack a lot in all right and doesn't your shoulder know it after an hour or two. Ok, so lesson learnt - I sold the 300 on ebay for just a few Euros less than I bought it for and reverted back to the 200. In short, try the bag first - preferably with some weight in it before committing to purchase.

I doubt you'll find a photographer of long standing on this forum who hasn't gone through his or her fair share of bags over the years and still hasn't found the ideal........even if there is such a thing.
