I voted for Del - I'm always impressed with imagination (and brick walls )

Above, Old Play List - excellent and very interesting lighting, I like the dark effect with the bright colours.
Below, Femme Fatale - fitted the brief "golden oldie" very well. Good shot!

Everyone did outstanding as usual, but this week I voted for Sarasocke,
your image just pulled me back in time, and with my imagination running rampant i went back to an era and the image came to life, with row boats and people with parasols etc etc..
the image was well shot, and i think it reflected the theme well and it gave me a few thoughts to reflect on too.. great job and congratulations.

My top and bottoms.

Cosmicma - a nice well lit image that raised a smile. Got to ask though, if your camera's are in the image what did you use to take it

Cutter - a classic golden oldie subject taken from an interesting angle. You've captured an amazing amount of details but for me it lacked any punch to make it stand out.

Just like to sat thanks to reggy for the vote, most unexpected.

Looking forward to this weekends theme Carol!!

Well done Carol - a convincing win I'd say.

Above: Sarasocke – For Women Only
Super scene Carol. I nearly voted for it – I like the composition, the reflection, the vintage building. There are, however, two reasons why I didn't make it my choice this weekend. The first is that it didn't fit my interpretation of the brief; it is not something old nor something new made to look old, it is something old made to look old. The second reason was that the making it look old part is not in my mind very convincing. It looks to me like it is just a sepia overlay; there is no vignetting, no brighter centre, no noise, no scratches, no variation in tone. Mind you, I can't talk, I wasn't convinced that my effort met the brief either.

Below: SieSmith – When woods were wood
Not being a golfist or knowing anything about golf sticks I'm not qualified to comment on the subject matter. This is very nicely done on the whole; just the right depth of field although possibly too sharp to be old. Once again it is something old made to look old.

The picture that surprised me in getting no votes was Andy's Heiress. I think that this was a superb effort at recreating the hand tinted look of inter war 'colour' photographs. I think I would have preferred it to have been a head and shoulders shot, perhaps with some of the family jewellery on display and maybe the sepia is a little on the heavy side too.

This week I voted for Ogga. A great ensemble of period pieces, the right sort of composition to match the era evoked, and nice treatment too boot. I do, though, have to admit to a certain amount of grandfather clock envy.

I've posted this in the "rules" thread. But just in case it gets missed :

To set up the new threads for the coming weekend, I do need a set of rules. I've tried to combine what has been discussed - what do you think ?

I would very much like to add that it would be good to see a short desciption of how the shot was done. a) because people may not be clear on bits of PS (textures, frames whatever) which are allowed or not (edit - I don't mean that we would disqualify someone, but just to make things transparent) and b) because it's interesting. I think this would be helpful for the voters.

Any comments/suggestions ?

1. To be valid images must be taken on the Fri,Sat,Sun of the competition, that is during Friday Saturday and Sunday in your time zone. ALL of the elements of any composite images or montages must be taken during the weekend competition window.

2. The subject must be set so that no one, will be excluded by limit of location, environment or equipment etc.

3. Anyone can take part in the competition and anyone can and should vote, not just the competition entrants

3. Generally there are no limits Post processing, unless the subject setter has specified basic adjustments only. Basic adjustments would be Levels brightness and sharpness etc. There is no restriction on equipment that can be used.

4. Images submitted after 12:00 UK time on the Monday may not be included as the poll thread must be set up. The poll runs for 2 days from the posting of the poll so that it generally ends mid day Wednesday.

5. The winner must set the new topic before Friday to give entrants time to think of ideas and get ready for the shoot, the competition starts on Friday, no images taken before that time are valid and will not be included in the poll.

6. The winner is then responsible for starting the Chat thread, Entry thread, and setting and managing the poll

7. Voters may not vote on their own image, the poll is set as open so you can see who appreciated your work.

Looks good to me. There will inevitably be room for more tightening but we shouldm't need law degrees to participate. On to the next comp!

Excellent work carol. As ogga says looks good enough for what we need and as H says any doubts will be decided by the voters.

Looking forward to the topic as should have a little more time this weekend.

Got my vote on that Carol - straight forward, simple and in plain language. Well done.

So what's next then?

My vote too Carol - Thank you Del & H for the comments. - I was going to title the shot around the new boots being worn (but the expression of Reb's face just inspiired more, and having used onboard flash, I had to deal with red eye problem!!!) - Also found I'm missing a very deep ginger/ruddy Sepia antique print much to my annoyance (hopefully it's in the loft unpacked) but I think my rendition worked quite well for the portrait style I aimed at.
