Your Mission..Deleted without reading

Hi there...
I'm pretty new to all of this but I sent in an entry for this months Your Mission - Something Blue and I've just had an email telling me that it has been deleted without even being opened!

Has anyone else out there ever had this happen?

I would like to believe this was a mistake as I've been reading Digital Camera for over a year now..

I had a similar problem with a previous submission. I did call the magazine and was told that their system does this from time to time.

It would be nice to get an acknowldegement when a submission has been received - irrespective of whether it gets through to publication or not - just to say that the email has been received without any glitches.

Yes, with a local photography competition, and I was a little peeved about it too. However I've since found out that if the recipient uses Outlook/Outlook Express then there is a way this can happen even if they have read it - if mail is viewed in the preview pane, and the marking of mail read in the preview is turned off, when mail is eventually deleted it can get recorded as being deleted without reading.

Hi everyone,

This did happen before, basically there's a central Digital Camera folder which the entries all come to. The entries are forwarded to the relevant team member who is judging the competition. Sometimes the entries are forwarded without opening and then deleted from the central box to save room in the mailbox, which is when you might get such a message.

I'll check with someone on Digital Camera that this is still the case and let you know if not.
