advise

hi all i have a nikon d50 and am looking to buy a canon powershot sx1 is or a sony cybershot dsc hx1 and thoughts on the one to buy? thanks

Welcome to the forums, philipelvis. Now both these bridge cameras are very good and there is very little to choose between them. However, I would say the Canon has the better quality video function, whilst the Sony takes better still pictures in low light conditions. When you compare one against the other in every other respect they are very evenly matched, so it may just come down to either price or which you prefer to use.

You might also want to take a look at the Panasonic FZ38 and the Fujifilm 200 EXR too.

Of the 2 you mentioned the Canon is generally the better all rounder. It is worth checking out the cameras Ian mentioned - they're also very good.
