430 EX II flashgun

Just bought a 430EX II flash and noticed that whereas the build is generally sturdy, there is some play in the swivel joint, not much but if you move or shake the flashgun you can feel/hear it rattle.

I'm presuming there needs to be some play in this joint but wondered if anyone has the same gun & could confirm this is normal? Thanks

Mine has a small rattle and it is the little plastic pull down diffused cover, hold that and check if you still have the rattle

Thanks Peter - tried that but it's definately the play in the swivel joint that causes the rattle (perhaps rattle is the wrong word - maybe a feint clunking/knocking noise?) - ie if you hold the main body of the gun and gently shake it, you can feel the top half of the gun wobble/move a bit. I've called the retailer and they suggest this is normal & even said the Mk II version head is slightly looser to prevent damage to the hotshoe if knocked. I can almost understand the strange logic to that!
