Panasonic Timelapse

hi folks - I thought time lapse with my fabulous Panasonic Lumix TZ7 would be a breeze but I have run out of ideas! Nothing included in the software and no references that I can find out there on the web! Ultimately a hardware intervalometer would be an option if someone could recommend one that would be compatible but to be honest I would prefer a software solution. I'm starting to think this may be impossible but surely not!?!

Acually while i'm here..if anyone can advise how to achieve a really long exposure on this camera (20 or 30seconds) I'd appreciate it. Easy on all my old Canons but this is my first Panasonic and I've run out of ideas!

many thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

To attain a shutter speed any longer than 8 seconds you'll need to put the camera into Starry Sky Scene Mode. There you can select either 15, 30 or 60 second exposures.

That's excellent thanks Ian - easy when you know how! Now all I need is an answer to the timelapse problem and I'll be sorted!

What are you trying to photograph, Jon, that requires a series of time lapse exposures? I'm intrigued!

It's a fairly generic requirement to be honest! I'm quite often out in the wild and have taken numerous timelapse films over the years...flowers opening, cloud scenes etc but always with an old Canon. Works just fine but the picture quality very poor compared with the Panasonic. I have a handy little netbook I can cart around anywhere which essentially would give me as much storage as the camera's battery would manage if some suitable piece of software was available but I'm having doubts!

I'll continue with my Canon in the short term but it seems such a shame as, for a point and click, the TZ7 does give fantastic image quality. As a non-expert this seemed like such an obvious function to include that it didn't cross my mind to ask before buying....wise after the event!
