Closest.
"try to get rid of a few excess stones"

I like the "leave no stone unturned" one as well though, H.

So close this week - any more votes to come?

After more snow we now have about a foot of fallen snow and bigger drifts so a snow / white theme would be good this weekend . The freeze is set to stay with us and must admit I love it. Even my wife does - mainly cos her school got closed for the first time in years today and she has a day at home for reports /catch up if she can get her laptop to work with a rubbish school system. If anyone moans about teachers getting even more time off I think she would be domne for murder as she had 3 evening meetings this week and 4 luinchtime meets in her half hour dinner so the snow is a blessing or I would be getting it all

Well done Andy - all you have to do now is keep your resolution and get a prompt posting of this weekends subject in time fro Friday.

Close run thing there and i had to pnder on my vote between the top 4 which were all good.
Reviews;
Beauxreflet`s - nice shot that had me guessing - unsuccessfully. Could not really tell what it was with the fixed size shot but the only thing that meant it did not get my vote was that the DOF seemed odd. Nothing seemed absolutely sharp to me - though I think it was the water making me think that and maybe my eyes
Flake`s - raised a smile with me though totally unsafe. As Flake says a snatched opportunity explaining the compsoition which I might have been tempted to change a little with some cropping. Also needs a little punch of contrast for me but that`s a personal thing I guess. Nice capture though and I like the worried look on their faces looking back at camera.

General point is that I wish we could see exif detail on this site - a real failing for me and why I prefer Flickr also I have yet to find a way of making it clickable to larger image which is not satisfactory.

My vote went to Sie for his "losing afew stones". Loved the textures and light in this one and felt beter when I knew the title as I had voted based on my own guess of title which I regretted after voting until his title fitted. Could easily have gone to Del for some great street captures - you`ll not go far wrong if you get some more like those this year. Also loved ogga`s but given you too many votes recently and as for lettign others give you a title

Great stuff - sorry our theme seemed to kill it a little this week but it had to be and maybe it was all those hangovers

More Street Photography. Del, I particularly like the story board nature of the shots although some seem sharper than others. Nice presentation, though layout margin along the top catches the eye with top pictures not aligned at their top edge (and cropping a little off the top right hand image would not be a disaster).

Follow Orders. Jinky, I enjoy the momentum of this compilation (although the change of shirt may have meant more if you were topless in the bathroom )

To my choice this week, Sie's Get Rid of a Few Excess Stones. Good detail and a very nice image all round.

I was a little surprised to poll quite so high as the light did not lend itself towards sharper shooting for the clock face (without additional lighting) and with limited time during the daytime, I chose the shots that seemed to fit the general idea in my mind, with an effort to show some movement in the water, while keeping the water line around the B as sharp as possible on an overcast weekend.

Thank you for the votes. - I will post the next challenge as soon as I can.

Congrats Andy, good to see a tight comp with a clear winner.

Up and down reviews:
desborokev - It's difficult to critique a picture which has a personal impact for you as this one does. It's moving and although it has a specific resonance for you the subject matter is topical. I think the low light hitting the shirt and monument from the side (particularly the ball at the top) adds poignancy and is well-executed. I would have liked to have seen the same on the flowers and further down the monument, but that may not be possible due to buildings blocking the light.

SieSmith - I voted for this one as I liked the colours and use of light. I didn't guess the title though! Well-composed and the black background prevents any distraction from the subject. Very crisp, would be nice to be able to see the EXIF as jinky mentioned. I like the tight crop which provides just enough information to get the idea across.

Looking forward to next week's theme!

Well done Andy - a great shot!

Below: Andy's time - needs no comment, the votes speak for themselves. I managed to get the punctuality part, but the 'all weathers' threw me a bit.
Above: Pebbles - also a great image, particularly the clarity and, as has already been said, the lighting. It is so obvious when you know what it is, but I was a bit slow getting there.

Both great entries, but my vote went to Jinky this week because the shot just summed up the resolution so neatly, and it's a resolution which has great resonance in this household. I hope you don't stick to it, though, I think we'd miss your photos, even if does mean that you have the squeakiest cleanest toilet in town.

No chance of that Del. I never keep my own resolutions never mind imposed ones
I wished I`d had more time and put more thought into mine last week. There were two other images to go in it but I`d messed up with too much overlap and had moved the tripod - to do some cleaning!

Well I hope I have started the new threads correctly - Please let me know if something appears incorrect

I have put this weekends challenge up as early as possible, in the hope that it provides plenty of thinking / planning time for everyone. and perhaps encourages more entries.

having read the blog about David Bailey, I hope everyone enjoys their photography and has some fun. For me photography is a never ending learning curve
