My original comment regarding post processing was more towards defining - A single edited image, a combination image (compiled from more than one image as in Poty digital vision category) or HDR's etc.

Might be an idea to limit entries to just one in the rules. I'd still like to see time lapse allowed even if it's just once, and everyone tried it as a subject.

Maybe also banning subjects which require certain equipment (fisheye perhaps?)

I have to say, I like the idea of the comp starting from when it's announced, as H. suggests. I don't mind loading the picture from the Gallery, if someone could explain how to. I had so many problems with getting my entry in until one of you provided those beautiful screen shots a few weeks ago and I can now do it easily from Flickr - clicking the mountain icon just didn't work for me. I don't see how the post-editing could be monitored - I've just had a look at some of my straight from camera stuff and the EXIF data says 'modified' on all of them, I guess that's actually the time I uploaded them to my computer, for which I use Photoshop. Notwithstanding, I too am happy to go with the majority - I just like this comp because it gets me doing things I wouldn't normally think about doing!

I'm quite happy with everything suggested so far. Whether I load a foto from the gallery here or flickr, it's really not a problem, I've just not used the gallery here yet. Never having won a competition, I can't judge what is possible and what not

As to processing - if none whatsoever is allowed, then there would be no point to shooting in RAW, other than having the original on file for future modification. I think we all do a certain amount of processing, and the person organising the comp for that week can always specify no processing which alters the image drastically if he feels so inclined - as those posted above by Jim and Andy - super shots btw - or HDR or whatever.

IMHO we've always had a good mix of shots - where's Mark BTW? I certainly don't mind keeping that mix.

@flake, suggested rule 2 covers the exclusion of entrants, shots that require special kit or weather or location are implied in that suggestion so I have expand that so its clearer, thanks. Please re read the rules as they have been updated.

It sounds like there is a general agreement that some weeks we can apply a limit on post processing, it is good in some ways that then the complete novice is getting a more level playing field, but it inhibits us to a degree and does not force us to learn how to to use the tools at our disposal, so long as this is not applied every other week I would agree it can be a challenge to get the image right in camera and that is to be encouraged too. Please re read the rules as they have been updated.

Rule 5 has been amended to include that the comp opens as soon as the subject is set, I tried to get this on the old site, it gives a much wider field too as you have people working on the roads and sites etc so the subject field is opened up. Please re read the rules as they have been updated.

any other ideas ? we can have a vote in a while to adopt the rules once they are more refined.
