D90 or D300 ?

Can any one help me deciding on which gear is better to replace my D40x ?

Help us by telling us what kind of image you like to take, what are your favorite subject types and what other lenses you have. Both are great cameras, but have strength in slightly different areas.

I like to take all kınds of photos especially action ,portraits and still photos . I have D40X's kit lens 18-55mm and a 18-200mm3.5-5.6 G ED VR Nikkor lens

If video is not something you would use I'd go for the D300, I have one and have had some wonderful results, its reliable and versatile.

You should ask this in the Nikon Chat thread more people may see it there.

Well, the D300 is "better" than the D90 in terms of overall spec but it depends. Personally I'd buy a D90 and invest the leftover cash in a shiny new lens...

I chose the D90, even though I dont do video, its proved to be a really handy piece of kit on occasion & the left over cash went towards a 300mm lens.
