Pre Booked my D3S

I made up my mind to get a D3s due for release at the end of the month and wondered if anyone else has decided to get one, mainly so that we can share experiences and tips, I'm hoping that the jump from the D300 won't be so big that I have problems learning how to drive it.

And I thought the big lottery winner lived in Wales

Not at all jealous Bob - that green colour is just a morning thing. Enjoy it when you get it.

Hi Bob,

I too plan to get the D3S when available. I currently have a D300.

Hi Robin, I'm currently using a D300 too, I'm keeping it as a backup because its a super bit of kit. I've been looking for images taken a lower ISO I found one at ISO 200 and it looked very nice so it should be very versatile.

Jinky, I'm using my savings to get this so just hope that rainy day dosent happen for a while

Bob, you will be extremely happy with it especially when under floodlights for rugby stuff.

I have it now Bob and just been out in the morning trying various settings and finding the controls. I can't believe how easy the transition from the D300 is, its like knowing how to speak Nikon if you know what I mean its so logical. The image quality at low ISO is very very good, as good as or better than the D300 and the high ISO is breathtaking, I love the shutter sound its so positive, dull days and floodlit games are no problem for me now. Oo er! I'm running out of excuses for not producing a good image . You can see some of the shots on my Flicker pages if you like, the link is in my signature.

Best regards, Bob.

I was in the same position as you guys, jumping from the D200 to the D3 and it was as easy. The biggest problem is all the menus, which can be very confusing at first but you get use to it. Now, when it starts to get dark, you can carry on shooting and still produce great shots hand-held.

Thanks Chris and oldboy, I was taking shots by moonlight at the highest ISO but as usual at the very end of the scale noise is obvious, but what a range and to be able to focus on the slightest glimmer of light is amazing. Now I know why they didn't put a popup flash on the top , but they should have built in a remote commander for the CLS system IMHO. I'm looking forward to my first rugby shoot at the weekend.
