Here we go - Two 4 second exposures of light painting (using a windup LED torch) combined to create an abstract image displaying and exploring Motion - done in a rush to kick things off.

That is my interpretation of "motion", really busy and always full of e-motion. Took few pictures on a straight road, then decided to walk down to roundabout.Good luck all!

Full size photo is here.

Most of my motion seems to include dogs. A friend of mine has a 14 week old terrier pup called Moritz. When he's not in motion he's either eating or sleeping.
Hope the picture qualifies

Well a prog rock gig (appositely following on from last week's theme) is my motion contribution for the weekend. The ever burgeoning work back-burner confines me to my desk today and so no chance of getting out and about. Crikey, gig photography is hard - all those changing lights and energetic band members bouncing about making it almost impossible to focus ... anyway, at least I've had a go.

The challenge of getting slow motion time lapse onto a single image is not an easy one, so this weeks entry is highly experimental. A chat with the graphics design guru and both of us agreed that the only way to do it is using layers of varying opacity, although we did dissagree on the method, if I'd used her's then I'd have had two layers for each shot (multiply & overlay) and when we did try it, it didn't work!

I've sent her the image of the assembled tree so she can have a go & if it's any good I'll enter it for her.

I had hoped with this that there would be easily identifiable 'bands' as each layer of the tree is built up, the painting behind doesn't help, but the whole thing appears to have a gentle 'gradient' type fade rather than the steps I was hoping for. Given more time I could perhaps have reached that effect, it's an interesting excercise for product type photography when the internal structure needs to be shown, as the 'trunk' at the start is clearly visible.

ANyway for what it's worth it's probably going to be the only slow motion entry!

When you say you will enter it for her Flake is that in the spirit of the competition to put other people`s entries in for them? Can`t you encourage her to increase our numbers by registering as a member herself and entering under her own steam if she has an interest? Just a thought or it opens the door to all sorts of potential for entering other people`s images. I`ve got a really nice one that my mate up in North Yorkshire shot. Really nice lad Joe - Joe Cornish - but he`s too shy to put his pictures up for peer review at the moment as he has so much to learn. Maybe I`ll enter one for him

Just ignore me Flake - I see it is in now.

After a day at the inlaws yesterday I feared a hectic day planned today would leave me out of it. Then I heard about the Santa Dash in aid of a local cancer charity in town and off I went. My wife could not believe I was off to town at thw eeekend - thought I was Christmas shopping! Anyway after failing at panning attempts - basicaly because the Santa`s did not run fast enough to get a blur and after similar failings with a carousel in town I settlled on this one:

I have to say that I've been really busy this weekend and I'm very rapidly running out of time to get a shot sorted! Doesn't look like I'm going to make it this week!

Ah she's not a photographer & it'd just be for the illustration more than a competition entry having seen it though (as a rough job) I don't think I'll bother! Having said that it is my image and her creative adaptation!!

Interesting look to it. Looks like a bit of zoom burst going on here as in mine. I cannot see the time lapse side of it though but as you said that would be really hard to incorporate into one image.
