ColorMunki Photo (UK)

Hi all

Is there any place that will hire out a ColorMunki Photo kit for a day? I would dearly love to calibrate both my monitor and printer but cannot afford over £300 to buy one.

Any links or suggestion appreciated

Martin

Hi Martin, welcome to the forums

I don't know for sure but I would be highly surprised if anyone would hire out a calibration system. The manufacturers certainly wouldn't be to keen on the idea!

There are calibration services that will visit you and do it for you. However given the average cost it would work out more expensive in the medium to long term as monitors, especially, exhibit drift and need to be rechecked frequently - at least once a month. You'd be better off saving up and getting your own.

I suppose cheaper normal monitors are more likely to drift than the fancy ones as well!

More than likely, yes.

There are also cheaper calibration systems out there other than ColorMunki.

ColorVision Sypder2Express for example cost about £70. I just used one of these and noticed a big difference in my monitor.

The only problem with the Spyder2Express is that it is only a monitor calibration tool - it doesn't calibrate your printer (which is what to OP was after).

Martin
Only have this bookmarked url for "colour specialists". Whether they rent.....

Is there any chance you could split the cost with a couple of others in your area and share it?

Alternatively, would the theory work in doing the below?

1. Buy the cheaper Spider2Express for monitor only calibration.
2. Purchase ICC profiles for your printer and paper.

Cheers,
Neil
