Macro filters???

hey guys

i'm recieving a tamron 90mm macro lens for xmas but before i order is a uv filter better for macro or a poloriser? i have both for my other lenses but at 55mm i'll need new ones for this lens as i'm just starting in macro (or will be come dec 25th) really not sure of the pros and cons with a close up lens?

I don't use any filters on any lens but on a macro it could degrade the image. The only filers I've used on my macro is close-up on my 60mm lens. On the Nikon 105mm F2.8 VR Macro never used a filter ever.

It depends on what you want the filter to do...

The UV filter does little in the days of digital other than protecting the end of the lens. A circular polariser isn't a commonly used in macro photography as far as I know.

It's better to get a good quality protection filter if you want a filter to act as a guard to the end of your lens.
