Question Pentax k-x review

In issue 92 we had a first look at the Pentax k-x. We were told to expect a review next issue. What happened to that review?

Its a Pentax. Something from either Nikon or Canon probably came in and they pay more.

what you think Digital Camera mag get paid to do reviews? You're either totally paranoid or know nothing about how mags are put together. Somebody on the team back me up please!

Sorry about the delay. There were some space restrictions in issue 93. The good news is that there's a full review in issue 94 which is on sale Dec 15 - just in time for Christmas. Just to clarify - you're absolutely right lovetruncheon, we never get paid for our camera reviews nor would we ever accept payment. Ben

Still a shame a Pentax lens couldn't have been added to the Luxury Lens test in issue 93 even though Pentax make some of the best prime lenses you can buy. Nikon and Canon had three lenses each. Pehaps I too am a little paranoid, but you must admit I have a point.

Yes you have a very good point.

But the lovers of Leica, Carl Zeiss,Tamron etc etc are equally "forgotten about" - they seldom get a mention either - why not!?!?!?

Isn't the answer rather obvious - Advertising pressure my the "big boys" - and the money they generate for the magazine publishers - with their large full page spreads - it's what the "masses" want - apparently - so the remaining discerning consumers have just got to learn to live with it - sad - but true.

Well, bearing in mind it's a Pentax I know that at least one of the observations will be that the kit lens has dreadful CA problems. I think this is cut an paste on Pentax reviews hereabouts.

The French mag Chasseur d'Images does proper lab tests on lenses; needless to say that their empirical review of kit lenses revealed no such issues and ranked the Pentax one just marginally behind the Nikon, with Canon's last after the Olympus and Sony offerings. But they key finding is that NONE of them are a disaster area.

My preferred French mag Le Monde de la Photo has a review of the K-x this month. It gets 9/10 and the editor's recommendation. I'll guess the phrase 'incredible high ISO image quality' is not one that will appear in the DCM version.

Personal interest time - yep I'm a Pentax user.
