hmm am now comparing MTL9351B + MH5011 Kit (Giotto) on Amazon special for £108 with the Redsnapper 283 Tripod and the RSH-528 3-way panning head, again a special offer (don't you just love Xmas time!) at £75 and also includes a carry case.

advice... its a tough choice and both are quite close in features ta Lisa

It's important to remember that you don't just need a tripod, you need a head as well. Does your £150 have to include a head or is that just for the legs? If it is you can afford Giottos top carbon fibre model, which will do all those things the manfrotto won't, and it's built better too!

I must admit I have the 055BPro - which I've found to be excellent - suffering non of the problems that Flake has experienced with the later 055Bx Pro - and presumably Matt based on his last.

With the shots I take with the tripod, I've not found a need for Spikes - I think the rubber feet screw in to reveal them - but if I'm honest I don't know for sure.

The head is equally as important as the legs - and which head does depend on what you need it for - I have a three way on my tripod as I use it mostly for landscapes so it a slow process - whereas I use a ball on my Monopod, which for the use it gets works better.
