self portrait

trying again on this theme, not something i'm very comfortable with (or good at), but tried a different technique using a bit of string to try and get the eye sharp...

Nice shot Alex. I would crop down the middle of the nose to lose the fraction of left eye which I find a little distracting.

Funnily enough I did another crop just like that but it felt a little cramped and this one seemed more balanced! Might go back and look at it again then...

Think you've done well here. Nice focus and lighting.
Agree about the crop as suggested.

The new crop certainly looks better to me but I do think you have over cooked the lighting on you nose unless you were going for a more high key effect .

And now in my butchest voice stunning blue eye's mate .

i did struggle with the lighting - getting close enough with my 50mm to get the shot i wanted seemed to mean my flash just blasted everything (even with flash compensation pushed right down and with the flash bounced off the ceiling)...i did some highlight recovery in ACR and this was about as good as i could get it to be honest.

i may have boosted the eyes a little, but the colour's all mine lol
