Probably one of the hardest birds to expose for properly because of the black feathers and white head , one usually ends up either over or under exposed so the best condition to shoot in are overcast days to minimize the contrast .

I think you just missed the focus on this one Geoff , the head looks a bit soft but if you look at the reed just to the back of the Coot it looks pin sharp .

I love the reflection of the reeds in the water and the way the Coot's wake has disturbed them .

Your right I did find it hard I took over 130 pics yesterday a lot if not most were of coot's I have got more some I hope are a little better other's I no are worse infact out of all I took I have deleted around 80.
