Auto Focus on a Lens

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question, i've been offered a nice 70-300mm lens but the auto focus is not working on it, it can still manual focus, do you think i should buy it or forget bout it? Im getting it cheap aswell if that helps.

Luke

Pretty hard to answer that question Luke , if your happy to manual focus all the time and you think the price is right then why not but only you can answer that .

Which 70-300 is it and at what price .

It's a sigma super macro 70-300 f4.0 think that's right and it will cost me bout €40 if I buy it. I don't mind auto focus all the time.

when you say super macro which lens are you talking about ?
sigma do a range of 70 - 300mm lenses and the one i have in mind is the sigma 70 - 300mm apo dg macro lens f4 - f5.6 is that the lens ?

my view is a faulty lens is a faulty lens no matter how cheap and the cost of having it fixed is more than the lens is worth even if the lens was free
considering your going to buy it i would be looking at what price they sell for fully working and make a decision with that in mind
if it is the lens i quoted above there only good to 200mm after that things start to get a little soft
another thing to keep in mind
