Filter question

Hi

When i bought my d3100 the guy gave me 2 filters for the kit lens.
1x hama UV 390 wide
1x hama polarizing filter

dont really know where to use them or what they do? any advice?
from what ive gathered the polarizing filters are used to make the sky brighter?

Sam.

The polarizing filter can enhance the blue's and green's in landscape's and also cut out the glare from water , for best results you should use it at 45 deg from the sun and as you rotate it on your lens you will see the effect change .
The UV is really just to protect the front glass of your lens .
