Automotive pic

Hello all this is my first post I've been taking pics with my Nikon D60 for about 3 years and have finally decided I'm going to concentrait on automotive photography here is a very quick shot I took of my car recently, I really can't state how quick this was done no longer tha 5 minutes.
What do you think?

Cheers Richard

Honda S200. Nice car. Always liked them.
Interesting what you've done here, adds another dimension to the photo but I doubt it'll be to everyone's taste, but don't let that put you off.

I can see why you've gone for the view you have, but sometimes getting the wheels in, and a bit if side profile can help. I remember reading an article by a pro automotive photographer who said he almost always tried to put emphasis on the wheels. And it worked in his photos.

The red reflection is a bit distracting and the setting doesn't really do the car justice.
The crop on the bumper is a shame too. But overall I like it. Interesting car photo.

And welcome to the forum.

Chris

Welcome to the forum.

Watch your backgrounds, as well as your photo being very cluttered to the side and behind the car (there's a door and spade handle growing out of the roof of the car). You've also got a lot of reflections and quite harsh shadows, because the photograph was taken in bright sunshine.

Digital Camera magazine did a car photography feature a little while ago, but I can't remember which edition it was in, but there are some automotive photography tips here http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/20...ike-a-ferrari/

Hope this helps.

Nick

I like what you have done, I keep getting told about backgrounds, here I can see what they
mean lovely car love. (don't take my word but I can see with this pick can distract fro what
could be a great pic

I think every one has pointed out all the major problems so my advise would be to study loads of pro car shots and note what you like about them and then practice replicating them yourself to gain experience and confidence in your own work so that you can then use that experience to produce good work yourself .

Nphoto magazine has a 10 page feature this month on automotive photography. You could find this useful. I'm guessing you're still interested??
