Fitting query

Hi, I've just bought a Canon 650D....so cannot wait to pick it up and start to play!
In the olden "film" days, I did use a Minolta ST605N.

Does anyone know if the bayonet fitting will be the same, or if I want to use my old 170-500mm lens will I have to get a new connection?

Thanks

John

The lens will not fit your Canon. Almost every camera maker uses a different mount. You can get adapters on ebay or amazon, etc. However, your old Minolta lens may fit a brand new Sony SLR. Sony bought Minolta's camera business so some lenses (it depends how old and if it is an A mount) fit.

if it's the sigma 170 - 500 i have in mind you will need an adapter and there are a few adapters about some with AF confirm some without
the best you can hope for though is manual focus and a wide open aperture the canon camera will not be able to use the lens electronics to control focus or aperture
