difficult decission D600 or D800

I currently own the D7000 with 300m f/4 with tele extender 1.4; 24-70 2.8; and 80-200 2.8; 50mm 1.4.
I shoot all kinds of things as an ameteur including churches, portraits with lights, travel, landscape, flowers, and birds.
Im trying to decide between the d800 and the d600. If I get the d800 ill have to sell the d7000 if i get the d600 i can keep it (perhaps just for birding). Is the D800 worth the extra $700-800?
I worry about the focus issue on the D800 (especially because I would have to buy refurbished). Also hear that file size can be an issue? Also I hear the D600 focusing is only slightly better than the D7000 (not so good in low light).
If I go for the D800, with its massive megapixel count, is it possible to crop at say 1.5 or 1.7 and still get an image as good if not superior to that of the D7000?
Any good advice would be appreciated.

Have you any particular reason for upgrading, other than want to go full frame?

the d800 is a very capable camera but because of it's 36mp sensor you hear a few complaints about the file sizes and needing a fast computer to process the images
as far as replacing a camera with a cropped sensor ( your d7000 ) if you crop an image to the same crop factor with the d800 as you get with the d7000 you would end up with an image containing around 18mp ( half the resolution ) which is still a couple of million pixels more than the d7000 so that wouldn't really be an issue
the tests iv'e seen in low light with the d800 havn't been that bad the problem with the internet is any tiny reservation is picked up on and thats the thing you hear about
the reality is you need to find a stockist and see for yourself

Beatnik69 asks a good question.

As for getting a refurbished D800, what about delaying the purchase and saving the extra to buy new? I really like being the first to open a box, and break the seal on the plastic bag containing the new item.
