Trying to tidy up a pic

Hi all I hae taken a picture of our rotti and we als have cat in the pic the is a lardge white hair on dogs head I need to cover it up the only editing software I have is ps 7 and gimp I have no idea on how to use either as I am very new to digital photography.

Hi,
The clone stamp tool should be able to help you here.
It's the rubber stamp looking icon down the left side.

Have a look at this video which hopefully will help. Alternatively of you google clone stamp tool it should bring up loads of tutorials.

Thanks Chris thanks for your help, as I have been up a lot in the night I had a look at Gimp and managed with that but I really do want to learn Ps 7 as I would like to get a more up to date one in future this may soundum but what is all Ps elements about are they the same as what I have Ps pro 7.

Do you have Photoshop Elements 7??

Elements is basically a stripped down version of CS.
I use Elements 9 which is still way too advanced for me. I'll probably never use all of the features. Its an amazing bit of software and I'm enjoying learning, albeit slowly.

Here is a comparison between elements and CS. Hope it explains the difference. The other difference is the price, which is a massive difference.

Hi sorry I have been away from my pc most of the day I don't no about elements I think it is just ps 7 don' really no much about it.

Why not post the original, would be helpful. PS7 was the last one, before they changed to CS, (Creative Suite), still have a copy. Ad.

Hi I fixed the image 1st using gimp but then went back to ps 7 as I did not want it to beat me and managed to do it again there.
I have had a look on ebay at other editing software blimey it expensive I did not realise, I did however find elements 7 for a few quid but wonderd how different it was to ps 7 and if it worth getting ? Appart from that what software with a reasonable price tag is worth getting ?

Hi Geoff,

Looking at the Photoshop version history on Wikipedia, Photoshop 7 was released in 2002, so in software terms is pretty old. It should still be capable of doing most of the adjustments you need to do, however you might find tutorials and assistance quite thin on the ground.

I'd suggest first having a look at the editing software that came with your camera. The Digital Photo Professional software that comes with Canon DSLR's is very capable, as is the Nikon equivalent. If these don't provide you with the tools you need, then perhaps look at the latest version of Photoshop Elements, which is now on version 11, it retails for about 50 quid, there is a 30 day trial available here (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/in...lements&loc=uk). You'll find that a lot of the magazine tutorials use elements, there are also lots of Youtube tutorials available.

Having said that, if you want a later version of Photoshop than you currently have. Adobe have released Photoshop CS2 for free download here http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html although it isn't supported by Adobe any more.

Hi Nick, Just having a look at cs2 free download now from what I have ready there is a lot more in it than ps7 so I will download it, by looking at it you have the win pdf 1st then 3 disc's worth to download what is the VCS2 & the cs 2_WWE_Extras_1.exe about would I need them
The VCS2 I take it that I should download that but not sure.
