Hi Geoff,
Looking at the Photoshop version history on Wikipedia, Photoshop 7 was released in 2002, so in software terms is pretty old. It should still be capable of doing most of the adjustments you need to do, however you might find tutorials and assistance quite thin on the ground.
I'd suggest first having a look at the editing software that came with your camera. The Digital Photo Professional software that comes with Canon DSLR's is very capable, as is the Nikon equivalent. If these don't provide you with the tools you need, then perhaps look at the latest version of Photoshop Elements, which is now on version 11, it retails for about 50 quid, there is a 30 day trial available here (

Having said that, if you want a later version of Photoshop than you currently have. Adobe have released Photoshop CS2 for free download here
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html although it isn't supported by Adobe any more.
Hope this helps.
