Question Second Hand Kit

A work colleague of my wife wants to switch to D-SLR and is on a tight budget and is looking for 2nd hand kit.
I have a Canon EOS 350D in good condition with:
1. Canon EF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 Zoom (filter 58mm) with UV filter
2. Sigma DG Macro Zoom 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 (filter 62mm) with UV filter and Circular Polarizer (Cost new £260)
3. Battery Grip For 350D
4. Four x Batteries plus Battery Charger
5. 1 x Shutter Release with remote control

I will also add in a Lowepro bag ( my 40D with a lens does not fit so of no use to me)

I have done some research, 2nd hand 350Ds in good condition are being priced between £250 and £399

I am thinking that a price of £500 for the bundle, is this reasonable?

Thank you Peter

Hi Peter

Mifsuds are selling a 350D body for £240 and a BG-E3 grip for £79. Harpers are selling a 400D with grip for £320. These are without lenses but a used 18-55 is pennies (sadly). The Sigma you can probably pick up for not very much as well but it all adds up.

Considering they'd be getting a grip, lenses, extra batteries, a bag etc so long as it's all in good nick (which you say it is). Add in the peace of mind that you're getting a whole kit in one bag (rather than having to source it all yourself) and you know where it's coming from and I'd say £500 is a very good deal.

I'd say £500 is a great deal - for the seller!
Body only the 350D is fetching £150 - 175 on Ebay (and bear in mind this is the kind of comparator for the way you are selling).
28 - 300mm Sigma fetch between £80 - £100

Whilst you might see camera shops advertising cameras for highish prices they offer many benefits which you won't want to, such as a guarantee and possibly a 28 day return as well.

Ebay has recently sold a camera with loads of extra bits which should serve as a comparator Item number: 110452912986 it consists of a 350D + lens and battey grip a full set of square filters, tripod release, card reader 8GB card, rucksack. It all fetched £385

Bearing that in mind I think £400 would be a more reasonable figure to ask for.

If the buyer knew much about it they would be asking how many shutter activations there had been on the camera and as flake says they do go for less than £500. Depends what they want to pay /what they know and whether they`ll do some work place bullying on your wife if they feel they have been ripped off :-)

If you took it all into a camera shop you would be lucky to get £150. When I took my D3 into Jacobs and asked about second hand value against a D3x I was only offered £1,000. It was less than a year old and had 33,000 shutters releases.

I wasn't going to sell it as I love it too bits.

Thanks all for comments.
5500 images taken and I have directed the person to look on E bay as I personally dislike selling 2nd hand kit I

I do not wish to part with my 350D as I use it as a back up should the 40D develop a problem also when I go to race circuits I put my 24-105 lens onto to the 350D to do pit lane shots/close ups without having to swap lenses from my 40D.
