Hi Mik
A lot will depend on the type of scope and/or the eyepiece you want to use. I have Celestron 9.25 CPC and put Baader Hyperion eyepiece direct on to back of scope with a visual back. This eyepiece then has a simple adaptor ring that fits the eyepiece to the T-ring.
I recommend, from Cambridge University Press, a book by Michael A Covington titled Digital SLR Astrophotography. This covers the basics quiet well.
I'm not sure of astronomy dealerships in Scotland but if you like I could post a list of the ones I know are worth contacting south of the border, let me know.
Hope this helps and if you can be more specific about your setup, I'll give what advice I can.

Pete.
