camera good for stills and video

a friend of mine is looking for a camera to go alongside his 60d that will be more...pocket friendly. he wants to be able to shoot high quality video whilst keeping creative control with stills. any suggestions? budget £300-400(ish). he's looking at the moment at something within the Sony NEX range, but does anyone have any other suggestions? he is a quality photographer who knows what he's doing with a camera, but is just after something a bit lighter to take (for instance) when snowboarding etc...

I've heard that the Sony range are excellent - if he's looking for advice, there is a forum especially for four-thirds users where he might be able to get some advice: http://fourthirds-user.com/forum/index.php. It's a sister site to a forum I've been using for a long time (dpreview), although it seems mainly for the Panasonic and Olympus fans.

I've recently bought a Canon EOS-M and been absolutely amazed by the image quality, particularly in low light (I shoot a lot of gigs). The video is excellent, but the critics are right in that the autofocus can be slow to kick in which is darn right annoying (although the band from the weekend are delighted!)
