Exciting indeed. I don't think I have ever had that many votes before. It will be a close call, there are some really good entries this week, it was tough to choose.

[QUOTE=wavemachine;87435]Did he fill you with fear when he test drove them I very nearly did a self portrait as a passenger in my wifes car

No actually unlike his elder brother he's a reasonably careful driver, but he does fill me with fear regarding the money he spends.

He bought a Mini Cooper S convertible Not a car I would have even looked at, but getting behind the wheel definitely changed my mind. He also placed an order for the Mini Countryman. He got fed up of the snow in Derbyshire this year so decide he wanted a 4 wheel drive car for work.

Well done John on a very decisive victory. It is such a well compossed, processed and though out image that is bang on theme that got my vote. I particularly liked the well controlled DOFof the childs face that was enough to show the fear yet didn't distract from the focal point of the needle which was pin sharp (no pun intended)!

Wild do my ups and downs later.

Congratulation on the win, John, great use of DOF and fitted the theme perfectly.

I'm not sure if Ups and Downs are still wanted as they seem to be a bit sporadic. What do others think?

Regards

Nick

Thanks again for all of my votes. This was my first win.

My vote went to Nick for the Fear of strangers. The shot was really well composed and the focus detail of the eyes is great. The shot hits the theme well, I could not find fault.

Up - A nice take on the theme, I found the image worked but only because of the addition of the mist, which finishes the shot nicely, without it I think the shot would have not worked at all. But a great entry.

Down - A good use of DOF, and an interesting take on the theme. I don't think that I ave much to say really. Well done.

All of the images were good, and worthy entries, but I did have a tough choice between the fear of strangers and the image by Jeff, The fear of light. This was an amazing photo that really stood out.

Regards
John

Ups and Down to me are part of the reason for entering the weekly comp as feedback is what helps us to learn, I agree it has been sporadic of late but shouldn't be. So come on peeps please remember to do them.

Well done once again John and thank to Donereo for my vote.

up - AlexHarrison - some advice

Nothing wrong with it as a photo, nicely taken and good focus by your own admission it was a quick entry so not as imaginative as the other entries.

Down - SabrinadeWinter - Ballistophobia

I had never heard of this phobia and surprised it even existed as I can't think of anyone who isn't afraid of being shot As for the photo I liked it, I especially liked the movement effect of it and felt it worked well on the black background.

That's good enough for me, so here's mine.

Up: Sabrina_De_Winter - Ballistophobia

A unusual phobia choice, like Dave, I'd never heard if it before. You've got really good detail in the bullet and casing, and the addition of the motion blur is well done and gives a sense of movement.

Down: Kerbside - Photophobia - the fear of light or lights

Really impressive zoom blur and well done on centring it on St Paul's. I very nearly voted for this as I liked it so much, but thought John just nixed it with his shot. I wonder if the blacks of the sky could be a little darker, although I'm being really picky here and I realise that there's a lot of light pollution in London.

And apologies for not thanking all those that voted for my effort, in my earlier post. I really appreciate people taking the time to vote.

Regards

Nick

.

Ups and downs do seem to be becoming less frequent.
It's the same people who tend to do them, and the same people who don't.
I wondered recently if we weren't doing them anymore.
