Most viewed?

When I check the 'most viewed' in my gallery, the first two photos are always the same. As they have been there the longest, I see the logic in that.
The following pictures vary wildly however; the 'most viewed' of one day are nowhere to be found a couple of days later.

Is the system so sensitive that one single viewing can change the whole lot?
I don't think any of my photos are viewed that often, so that could be the reason, but I often get the impression, that you just get to see a random selection when you press that particular button.

Does anyone know how it works?

The 'highest rated' always seems to show 'the most recent,' which is also a bit peculiar.

Rather like the rest of the site it appears adhoc. On the most commented tab it lists a no comment photo before ones with comments!
