I'm in complete agreement with you Dave, you buy what you can afford. Last Thursday I was at an RSPB reserve near Doncaster.
Mixing with the big boys sporting the massive white lenses (camouflaged) such as the 300mm f/2.8, 400mm and 500mm primes + extenders, I've got to admit to feeling very inadequate  Harry
