Thumbs down NO CAMERA :( feel lost

My DSLR kit lens, the Nikkor 18 - 55 mm, was jamming, not turning to zoom properly.

I phoned walters photo and video to see if they could give me any advice, he tould me to come in and he would take a look at it for me.

So i went to the shop and handed over my lens, he tried turning the zoom as was the problem and i hered a snap or click and he said "yep its compleatly knackered" i said ok and had my lens back. I took it home and packed all the camera equipment back up ready to take back to Argos as it was under warranty. While packing it all up i noticed what he did to the lens, why it went click or snap, he had actually compleatly broken and snapped parts on the inside of the lense!! I was furiouse!!

I still took it back to argos and they have sent it to Nikon, hopefully they can sort it but because its compleatly broke now I dont know if they can fix it uder the warranty and if they get back to me with bad news im going to take matters further with walters!!

Do not go there for any repairs! or anything for that matter. They are useless!

So now i have no camera to do my christmas projects for my A Level. I hope they can sort it and i have it back soon!

I FEEL LOST WITHOUT MY CAMERA!

Can't the college borrow you a camera? I go to Yale in Wrexham and they have Nikon D70s and other cameras that they loan out.

Hiya,

I had a Fuji...which I accidently broke the selector dial on. I booked it in for a repair on the Fuji website they had a printable address and repair number which I printed off then boxed up the camera and sent it off to them by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. They had a standard repair turnaround of 10 working days...I got it back after just 7 days. I could have got it back sooner than that but you have to pay more. If you havent already done so, when you get your camera back, register it with Nikon yourself and take out a warranty with them. The trouble with going through a "middle man" or in this case Argos is that your at the mercy of the staff sending it back on the day you handed it in. Plus it will have to go through their own distribution centre before it comes back into the shop or to your house which means even more wasted time.

But like karenoliver says check with your college to see if you can borrow one for the time being.

I have to say before I start that I hate Argos with a passion! You could have asked for a full refund and returned the camera to them.
Argos are more often than not the most expensive shop on the high street for instance Jacobs have the Canon 5D MkII with lens for £2300 while Argos are asking a whopping £3000, £700 or 30% more!

If they can't sort it out or it's faulty in any way ask for a full refund and buy from somewhere that doesn't just want to rip you off!

ooh you probably should have gone with the "i demand a refund" first option..
you are entitled to a refund when the item is defective/broken or is unable to be used for the intended purpose..
and i bet if nikon say you broke it yourself argos will say you invalidated warranty etc..
