Travel Lens

Hi

I´m looking for a travel Lens that I can take with me on relaxing vacations instead of bringing all my photo equipment everytime (getting quite heavy)

I have been looking into following lenses:

Canon EF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS
Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM
Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical

Please share you knowledge and critics in regards to above.

Thanks in advance

Morten

Hi Morten, welcome to the forums.

It would help if you told us what camera body the lens would be used on.

I bought my 50 d with the canon lens .As an everyday solution it's not bad at all.Ok I have L series lenses and the canon 100 mm macro and quality is not a patch on those two.

But and I think it's a big but .What price can you pay on having a lens that stays on an can cover nearly all your options which seems to be what you ask for.

At 18mm it vignettes quite badly but I am being very critical .

I have suggested before that it would be a good idea to see if you can hire the lens out for a while and see for yourself.

The Sigma gets relatively good reviews (for a superzoom) at Fred Miranda.

Logic dictates that the Tamron might suffer for it's longer focal length but I think I'd google around for some reviews and see if you can get your hands on them before you buy

Unless you need the additional reach, the new 15-85 might be a good choice :http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I have gone for the Sigma 18-200mm it had good reviews and a bit cheaper if I one day would go for a fullframe I can not use any of them on anyway.

Take Care

Regards

Morten
