OK, just wondering if this qualifies, it was a panned image, but I've put the speed up high as I wanted the shadow of the bike clear.

Here is one that I did last year (having just learnt how to make images stand out on a b&w background).

Alex, i love it, the weather makes it look like the background has been a little desaturated and the wheels of the car really show speed.

IIMO definitely does not qualify. The idea of panning is to follow the subject with the camera set to a slow shutter speed so as to get the subject in sharp focus and the backgound blurred.

Alex's example of the red car fits the bill, but ideally a slower shutter speed would have been beneficial plus of course a slightly better composition.

There are numerous examples and info on the 'net. Have a read of this one by a novice in panning.

I just hope the weather improves, as at the moment visibility is very poor and also very wet.

Chris I don't quite follow your point "Hard judging the speed to pan" Are you referring to how fast you pan your camera, or the shutter speed?

How fast you pan is determined by how fast the subject is traveling. Shutter speed is dependent how how well you can pan the camera. A shutter speed of less than 1/30 ist what to aim at.

Same problem here Sabrina, weather was very bad over the weekend and now it's getting worse. Snow flurries and strong winds off the North Sea.
Hopefully the weather will improve by next weekend as there will be a motorbike festival on Sunday which should give me plenty of opportunity to get some panned shots.
