Thank you DD, I was playing with the idea to make placemats maybe I should sell them .

Thanks to Cutter, DigiDiva, donoreo, ianpinion, Jediboy, nick_gray, wavemachine and wil59 for the votes.

My vote went to Coffee, I like the red - black color. And I like the texture you see in the coffee.

UP: Fork handles
Not a bad picture, I maybe would have played a bit with the angle. To make them look endless.

DOWN: Java
Also a great picture, nothing bad to say about it.

Ups - EgG

Loved this. Very simple but very effective. Well composed and well lit.
Can't fault it. Worthy winner that got my vote. Well done.

Downs - baking.

Initially I couldn't see this on theme with kitchen. But then it became obvious - Good thinking.
The composition is slightly off, cropped a bit on the left.
With a different composition and background, and lit by the candles this could have worked. I know you entered this as a snap so it probably didn't get the full works.

well done sabrina - a lovely minimalist shot!

UP: spife and spork. clever shot, DD, and one i was going to try and get (but found i didn't have the equipment or patience for!). my only criticism would be that the knife 'shadow' seems a little long for the fork above it, but i think the only way to get round this would have been to seriously edit the shadow. good work though!

DOWN: fork handles. nice shot this was. i would have perhaps gone for a focus on the tip of the handle and let the rest fall off to infinity, but a nicely executed shot, so well done

bring on units of measurement! my first thought was the bathroom scales, but then i decided noone needs to see that lol

Apologies for the delay in posting my Ups and Downs. A really good set of pictures submitted, it was obviously a good theme set by Cutter that brought out the creativity.

UP: Surreal forks by Alex

A good photo that I can't fault, I still can't work out which fork goes where, I really like it and keep coming back to it. You nearly got my vote, but unfortunately for you (and a few others) Sabrina entered with her Egg photo, which got my vote.

DOWN: Egg by Sabrina

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said, a really great balance of lighting and composition, right on theme and IMO a worthy winner. It reminds me of a set of traffic lights, perhaps it could be use by the egg marketing board - "Stop for an Egg!!". If I was to be very, very picky, I might clone out the smidge of yellow off of the bottom rim of the egg cup.

Here's to the next comp. I was thinking of photographing a bit of chain - a chain is 66 feet

And I always thought a 'chain' was the length of a cricket pitch

I wonder if that will confuse Sabrina?

You are correct Harry, a chain (66 feet or 22 yards) is the distance between the two sets of stumps of a cricket wicket. And I'm sure it will confuse Sabrina, we do have some really odd measurements don't we - fathoms, furlongs, firkins, peck, bushel, gill, acre etc.
