I work with Pea24 who did the comps a lot in the past DD will remember him, rest assured I still nag him on a daily basis to start joining in again and will continue to do so!

Personally I'd recommend adding the competitions as an Event on the FB page, that way it'll get significantly higher exposure & likely to attract more participants.

Posting on the page as an individual is all well & good, however the downside to that is your post gets moved to the small section on the RHS & often ignored.

Sadly my 1st attempt almost resulted in a great meeting of camera & water....swiftly followed by various expletives & consoling myself with coffee, which subsequently resulted in this.
