Jediboy, I agree with your comments. As mentioned before, I passed a 100% quality time weekend with my family. I was not planning to participate this challenge. As it was the 4th birthday of my son, there was a birthday cake (a spiderman cake, he likes spiderman ) This picture wasn't meant to be used for this challenge. But, I posted it anyway
That explains the SpiderMan theme. My 4 year old is a big Spoierman fan too. Glad you had a good weekend. And I hope the cake was nice.

Well done DD on an excellent shot and a well deserved win.

It was between yours and Nicks shot for my vote but Nick's pudding just got my vote maybe because I voted just before lunch!

Thanks to tcaisley for my vote much appreciated.

Up - AlexHarrison - Sloth

I really liked this, the eye was nice and sharp and a great take on the theme I felt though I would have like to seen a bit more of the turtle though! Congrats on your well deserved votes

Down - NickGray - Greed

I loved this shot, I loved the impact of the pudding with it's bright colours screaming indulgence against the plain background, you captured it wonderfully which is why you got my vote! Only crit is I actually wanted to eat the pudding and couldn't

Well, what a confidence boost for me with the win. I have struggled, really struggled since October with things at home being very very bad and the motivation to get my camera out let alone try to get a decent image. Things at home are improving (serious marital issues since October which I really don't want to depress you all with), and at last I am relaxing and getting time to concentrate on my photography. Dave and I are back on track and making things work.

Thanks to alexharrison101, Bielix89, Cutter, damage, Dukatum, kerbside, Sabrina_De_Winter for my votes, which I really appreciate.

I voted for alexharrisons01's Sloth as I felt, as a natural subject, totally unstaged, this fitted the theme best and he was soo cute!

Up - Nick Gray's Greed - No problem's with the photo itself, great use of D of F, nice plain background to make the bowl stand out, composition was good bu tI just didn't feel it fitted the theme of 'Greed'. Had it shown the food being gobbled up or the empty bowl, yes, but to me it was food but not necessarily greed.

Down - Sabrina De Winter's Gula - Felt it was too busy and didn't really portray a sin. Your son eating it, or with it smeared round his mouth might have been better . However, I liked the texture and colours and thought the lighting (the shine on the red berries) was spot on. Is Gula a Spanish word

I will post the new theme shortly................but it takes me A G E S to do

Gula is also Spanish (obviously taken from the Latin)

Apologies for the delay in doing my ups and downs.

UP:

A Trifle too much! A good colour pop, great composition and good focus on the eyes. Perhaps a slight niggle is the positioning of the spoon, it's a little too posed, and looks like it would miss your daughter's mouth.

DOWN:

Lust Good composition and a worthy winner, congratulations on the win DD. I'm not sure if it's the gold in the perfume bottle and the lipstick holder but it looks like there is a little yellow/orange colour cast, I wonder if it could do with a little white balance tweak.

It's not my intention to upset, so I hope my comments are taken as constructive and not too critical.

My effort was meant to portray ordering dessert after having a filling meal in a restaurant. I was happy with the image, but I can see that it was perhaps a little off theme. Thanks for the votes from Jediboy and Wavemachine though.

My vote went to Kerbside with The Sin of Excess, I thought this met two or three of the 7 sins, was very colourful and good composition, plus I haven't seen 'Black Jacks' and 'Fruit Salad' for years. Seeing them took me back to the days of the sweet shop counter where I would spend ages getting a small bag of sweets for 10p. I'm sure you used to be able to get 2 black jacks for a penny!!

Nick
