Congrats Dave on the win. Got my vote as it fitted the theme well, and the phone box draws the eye nicely. Reminds me of old holidays from when I was a child. God work.

Ups - Plink plink fizz.
I really liked this photo, on theme and a bit different. Well taken. I love the bubbles, but not so keen on what looks like water drops on the outside of the glass. Overall, good photo.

Downs - Red mail box.
I like the way you get two hits of red in this photo, the red mail box and the red brick wall. But to my eye, its just lacking a bit of punch. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Well done to everyone, good entries this week.

Well done Dave Nice processing and bang on theme, you got my vote just ahead of jeff. Looking forward to your next theme.

My ups and downs
Up Kerbside: Poinsettia Leaf, great image spot on theme nice focus and good composition, so nothing wrong I just preferred the other image by a whisker.

Down Digdiva:Plink Plink Fizz, Nice focus but the image would have looked better not showing the bottom of the vessel and the specular highlights were too distracting in the glass, this could have been overcome with the right position of the flash. If you want any advice let me know.

Great entries everyone

Thankyou Cutter, donoreo, elainephotodude, Jediboy, kerbside, Markyboy1, wil59 for my votes it is very much appreciated and of course thank you for your kind comments.

I spotted the phone box whilst walking the dog, all I had with me was my camera phone so it was intended as a reccy shot but I was pleased with the result so it became my entry. I guess it shows truth in the saying "The best camera is the one you have with you!".

I enjoyed all the entries this week but I loved Jeff's entry it was simple, effective and beautiful so well done Jeff you got my vote.

So that was my down.

Up - Wil59 - Maltesers

A really nice idea and it hit the theme square in the eyes, the image was sharp and the malteser very well positioned, there was nothing I would change on this shot so well done nice entry. BTW the phone box had been washed so I had to smear dirt all over it

Well done everyone on great entries, I will post the next theme up shorlty

Congrats to Dave on his win, got my vote and yes I ave used the iphone5 camera with great effect

Down, Mark with his lips. Great take on the theme and beautifully captured. My one point in my humble opinion would that I would of preferred just the red lips with normal eyes or a closer crop of just the lips, that said, god I wish I hade a model on tap like you have.

Sorry they are late but heres ups, downs etc:

Well done dave, I liked the processing, composition and subject, well done and well deserved. I meant to vote for you but messed up!

Thanks to alexharrison101, ianpinion, Jimbojumbo for my much aprpeciated votes. Thanks for the feedback and yes mark, I would love some help..I deffo have a gap in my lighting knowledge.

Up: Marks Red Lips - I think a more secuctive mouth, without the eyes would have worked better but I loved the high key effect. One thing that I noticed, but it may have been my screen, the lipstick looked as if it had bled a little at the right of cupids bow. You are so lucky having models to work with, Im jealous!

Down: Jediboy's Red Berries - Not quuite sure the colour popping quite worked on this. Something was missing to make it stand out. Just my opinion though.

From my Adroid phone. In the process of building a new PC.

Dave well done on your deserved victory.

Up (post box) well taken photo fits the theme, but possibly a little bland.

Down (fancy a Beer) a very goog idea fits the theme, the only downside for me is the lack detail in the water droplets. A little under exposed?

Hopefully I'll be up and running PC wise in time to get a 'Beautiful' photo this weekend. I'll be tied to the house so will have to put my thinking cap on.

Harry

thanks for my critique guys (i may get a vote eventually in these comps lol) - i didn't actually colour pop my shot (it was a dull grey morning anyway), just boosted the saturation of the red channel. agree with the cluttered background when i look back on it - will try and bear this in mind more when shooting.

UP: fancy a beer. nice different twist on the theme, and a good clean shot. i liked it, but might have preferred all the bottles to be sharply focussed? just me tho.

DOWN: maltesers. lovely crisp vibrant shot. no criticism here - a job well done i thought!

congrats to dave with your phone box - completely vanished here in derby, but i do remember them from when i was younger - i'm impressed there are any still around!

Thanks Alex,

Well I have to come clean. Not all of the beers are the same, I had drunk a couple of bottles of the Rebellion Red over Christmas, so when it came to take the photo, I only had two bottles left and the two of them didn't look right, so I snuck in a bottle from the local brewery. It was a bit too obvious that it was a different beer/bottle (notice the neck bulge and different colour crown cap on the bottle at the back), so I tried to mask my deception by throwing the background focus out.

Cheers

Nick
