Never too sure of the best way to convert to mono. Generally I do a gradient map/overlay and a layers level and adjust each channel. Straight conversions to mono often lack a little something. Any tips happily received. Always looking for new ways of doing things.

I wish I could help you out on this one but I still haven't really got my head round it myself yet , I use the channel mixer in CS2 but to be honest I just move sliders around until I hit something I like .

If you are using Photoshop CS? use curves to darken the shot or the brightness/contrast option. It can give it a bit more zing.

I have elements 9. I don't think I could justify CS anything really. I did use brightness/contrast, adjustment layer. guess a but more trial and error.
