Frostlets how did I do ?

This is my very first real attempt at anything macro id love your thoughts please

these were taken using a 18-55 kit lense and a Mitakon 24mm wide manual lens. I'd love to hear your feedback.

Not bad. They are all well done. I like the last one, as the background is sort of a line. The first one the light seems a little dark and different than the others. Perhaps a little under exposed?

Thank you donoreo, the first one was taken using my new/old 24mm Mitakon I altered the coloring to make the the leaves stand out from the background. Its my favorite one of the 4 but I do like the last one.

Opps got that wrong the number 1-4 were taken with my kit lens and 2-3 with the Mitakon

Lovely use of DOF in the first three and the composition of number four is spot on , my personal preference would be to have the focal point closest to me in the fourth shot but other than that I really like them and I'm quite impressed with the detail you've captured considering the kit you have .

I think you have done well. As mentioned, maybe a tad underexposed. A bit more light could help, and may bring out a bit of 'sparkle' in the frost. Your DOF field is good. Generally speaking I like the composition too.

Thank you jediboy, I processed the first one like that. I might have another go and and alter the exposure a bit. Not to bad for a £20 lens though lol

Really like the focus in the first image where it is on the growing tip, where as in the others it's on the nearest leaf. However I prefer the composition of the fourth. I would imagine the histogram for these is mostly showing detail in the midtone range, but personally I would increase the exposure slightly.

I found that a part of learning was to look at my images and ask myself what I think has worked etc, then compare my thoughts with feed back.

There are some lovely macro shots in the gallery, have you had a look?

Thank you Mark, to be honest I was surprised myself. I think I will take a bit more time next time :} im looking for some affordable lenses all the time but didnt realized how expensive a hobby photography was. I will get there.

Thank you CR3Snapper, I look through the galleries all the time I find it gives me the inspiration to look for new things to shoot and I love feedback good or bad it really makes you think about what your doing
The first photo was shot with an old manual lens I think I just over did the PP, the last 3 were taken with a kit lens from the same position.
