if you shoot RAW then you get all the data for that image. JPG strips a lot of that off. you will need a converter program good news canon supply DPP which can do this also elements has ACR, there is also programs like Lightroom as well

Hi Wave01, I have DPP and I've just started to mess about with it.
Fingers crossed I'll have some success.

Thanks

Your welcome Gary, and I agree with using raw it gives you so much more control over the final image with out losing the quality of the original image. Although lightroom will let you alter J-peg images the same way as it does raw. Give it a try you can download a 30 day free trial from Adobe.

When i first started on this forum approx 3 years ago I could not take a picture of a bird without the feathers looking fluffy and no detail, if you click on the robin below you can see how far I have come and that's mostly due to the guys and gals on this website helping me OH and I didnt give up good luck in your pursuit of excellence.

I picked the last one, 3/4 mts Photoshop. To me, all digital pictures need at least, sharpened. Other adjustments are a bonus. Keep at it, success should come. Ed.

A very similar story for me and I still can't

Seriously Mark has hit on a good point here, one of the things that I think Mark will agree has helped us is entering the weekly comps, there are challenges which will sometimes push you out of your comfort zone which is fun and you get feedback on your entries.

There are some very experienced photographers on this forum so it is a superb learning resource as I hope you are already finding
