Ups - Hard as ice.
Like the idea but for me it he photo doesn't quite work. To my eyes it looks a bit dark and the detail isn't quite there. A different approach to the lighting may have helped.

Downs - Hard Liquor
After much deliberation this got my vote. Focus is spot on and it's a well composed photo. It works well in black and white too. I like the effect you've created around the edge of the photo, which draws she eye in to the well focused Glenfiddich bottles.

As always, just my thoughts.

Well done Sabrina, great photo and another great win I just loved your shot and voted for it.

That's my up

Down - As hard as ICE

I really liked this idea and in general the shot works really well, I like the way I feel I am in the ice, I would have liked to see a bit more detail of the texture and also feel a tweak to the white balance would have given it a colder and more realistic look.

Well that of course is just my opinion.

I also really liked kerbsides and LaPistola's entries which were in the running for my vote however I don't drink, I get sea sick but love hazelnuts

As for my entry we did have a busy weekend with my dads 70th and helping to deal with the flooding so it wasn't really shot for the purpose of an entry, the shot for me serves as more of a record of what happened!

Well done to the winner and thank you for my votes.

Up - A hard road to follow
Very nice shot and one I like quite a bit. I can see the theme but think there isn't enough enthesis on the water as that wasn't the subject from what I can see. The slow although exposed great I would have liked a little brighter.

Down - Two of the hardest materials on earth.
Nice macro. Thought the angle could have been more interesting.

Well done to the winner.

Up

Hard to Believe

Impressive shot one that got my interest and is hard to fault, the only low for me was the rain drop at the front kind of spoilt it a bit, looking like a glare or smudge so the same shot with that missing would be better IMO.

Down

A hard road to follow

I really liked this shot I feel it is well composed and the words in the road give you a sense of what's up ahead and leads the eye to the waters edge. The sky/cloud area was the only low for me it appears to be a bit washed out (if that makes sense) however still my favourite shot as this got my vote.

Thanks for my feedback to those that have given it, lesson learnt! some good images and ideas overall.

Onto the next one...

Agreed, thankfully I couldn't go back and retake the shot as the water had gone Thanks for the feedback!
