camera upgrade

hi guys, im new to the world of photography and have the basic entry level canon dslr, I want to upgrade asap to a better model, im shooting in manual all the time, day and night, really starting to get the gist of wb, aperture, shutter speed, long exposures etc etc, reading a lot and studying, on a small budget at this stage so im looking at 650d, would appreciate any advice as to what is best , or is better idea to spend a bit more, please help, also looking at lenses, I need a good low price wide angle. is ebay safe to buy direct from hong kong or not? it is cheaper. please help. thanks

hi what do you have at the moment. theres nothing wrong with the 650d but you could spend less and get the 600d or you could spend a bit more for a 60d or 7d. as for buying abroad you have to think about warranty and if its second hand what condition is it in. there are shops that do good used equipment with warranty

I have the 1100d kit set, impulse buy, should have taken more time to talk about the best choice to start with, anyway it has got me learning and progressing, im going to upgrade after xmas and looking at the 650 or the 60d, I like landscapes and night photography as both are at my backdoor where I work ( remote western Australia), so im researching which midrange camera would be best, at least for a few years, and I will start with buying good lenses to keep for later bodies. ,??

All things considered, especially since you mentioned that you are working in remote western Australia, I would suggest the 60D because of the waterproofing. It is a sturdier camera and will put up with a lot more abuse than the T4i will put up with. Many of the stats are the same, but the T4i is a bit newer and a bit faster. The 60D will last longer over time for just a bit more money.

P.S. Personally, I am holding out for the 7D mark2. I have a T1i that I have been using since it came out. While it is still very useful, I am starting to run up to the limit of the shutter actuations. The other good part of the 60D is that it has a much larger number of actuations before it may have issues. I intend on keeping my T1i as a back up, and I suggest that you keep your T3 as well. Having that back up around will give you the opportunity to keep a prime lens on it or a wide angle for a shot that you might not otherwise get.

hi both the 60d and 7d are due for replacement soon i would look at canon rumours to see what is on the horizon for next year. then it will be a question of waiting or getting a cheaper deal on the the others

Hi I just got a 650D for Xmas still trying to get used to it found that it will not load Raw files to Photoshop Elements 10 as it dose not recognize the format trying to sort this out but a good camera.

You need to load down the lastest Camera Raw from Adobe.

I have a 60D and it was an upgrade from a T2i after only 6 months. I have never looked back. Over all, I think you will be happier with the 60D
